Civic Infrastructure is Essential Infrastructure
Percent for Place is a growing cross-silo coalition that advocates for increased and improved civic infrastructure — the shared public places located across every American community. Our goal is to make federal support for civic infrastructure predictable and consistent, ensuring these vital places receive similar attention and resources as other essential infrastructure.
The benefits of this investment are many: research shows that high-quality, well-maintained civic infrastructure boosts local economies, improves health, and reduces crime.
Yet support for civic infrastructure is often piecemeal or nonexistent. We’re working to change that. A small and consistent allocation of federal funding and changes to policy can and will create transformative change, providing a foundation for healthy and resilient communities.
